Has your skin taken a beating this winter? Is it feeling dry and lacking that healthy glow we all know and love? Well, let’s change that! The key to getting baby-soft skin is to rid it of rough, dead skin cells, and up its moisture levels. So if your skin is on the parched side, try these tricks for getting it touchably soft and smooth.
#1: NIX DRY SKIN
If your complexion is rough to the touch, you’re probably harboring a layer of dead skin cells on top of the soft, new skin underneath. Get rid of it stat by using a face scrub once a week, and consider booking yourself in for a professional peel – this will remove all that dry, dead skin to reveal a much brighter, smoother, softer complexion.
#2: SWITCH UP YOUR CLEANSER
Does your regular cleanser leave your skin with that tight, squeaky-clean feeling, as though there’s absolutely no oil, grit or grime left behind? Do you just love that feeling? Well, sorry to break it to you, but while your skin may be very clean, your cleanser’s actually just sucked all of the moisture out of it. To get super soft skin, swap your harsh and drying cleanser for mild milk or cream cleanser.
#3: SAY YES TO SHEA BUTTER
I love nothing more than slathering on a moisturizer and letting my skin soak up the goodness. Lately, I’ve been using a shea butter moisturizer, and my skin has never felt so damn soft – and for hours on end! Don’t confuse shea butter face moisturizers for super thick and creamy shea butter body butter – the former has a much thinner, lighter consistency, but will give you that same long-lasting hydration.
#4: MAKE FRIENDS WITH MIST
Sitting in an air-conditioned office during the day or spending hours out in the cold air can wreak havoc on your skin. It constantly battles the elements, resulting in a dry, crepey, and tight complexion. Your savior here is a facial mist – you can spray it directly over make-up or bare skin and it will sink deep into your skin and instantly rehydrate it. Say hello to a super soft, replenished complexion!
#5: BOOST YOUR OMEGA-3S
Eating fish is excellent for your health, but did you know that its omega-3 fatty acids can also do wonders for your skin? Omega-3s are rich in alpha-linolenic acid, which is a dream for reducing dryness and promoting soft, healthy skin. Top up your omegas by adding fish (like salmon) to your diet twice a week.
