How to Protect your Baby against Nappy Rash

As a new or expecting mother, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the things you need to prepare for this tiny new addition to the family, one of the top priorities is taking care of your baby’s soft delicate skin, and a good nappy rash cream is an essential item.

Why wait for nappy rash to develop Instead, you could stay one step ahead, and protect your baby against nappy rash from ever forming; using an effective nappy change cream like (OE BABY NAPPY CHANGE CREAM).

Nappy rash is a common condition likely to affect most babies at some point; however it reaches peak prevalence between 6 – 12 months of age.

6 things to consider when protecting against Nappy Rash

Aside from using an effective nappy change cream there are some other things you can consider to prevent nappy rash from appearing:

  • Give your baby some nappy free time to allow the skin to breath
  • Use a highly- absorbent nappy and make sure you change it frequently
  • Avoid perfumed soaps and antiseptics which might agitate your baby’s delicate skin.
  • Nappy rash is not a bacterial infection, and should not be treated with antiseptics.
  • Between changes only clean your baby’s nappy area using water and cotton wool, or unscented, alcohol-free baby wipes.
  • Gently pat her skin with a towel until it’s completely dry.

Prevention is better than the cure. The aim should be to reinforce and protect the skin’s natural barrier, and this all starts with good skin care at nappy changing.

Protect the skin

  • Gently apply a thin layer of protective nappy change cream on your baby skin.
  • Keep skin dry with a soft, absorbent, high-quality diaper that locks wetness away.
  • Make sure diapers aren’t too tight so wetness stays away from the skin.
