As We Celebrate World Oral Health Day
The goal of proper oral hygiene is to remove or prevent formation and buildup of plaque and tartar, to prevent dental caries and periodontal disease, and to decrease the incidence of halitosis.
Taking good care of your mouth, teeth and gums is a worthy goal. Good oral and dental hygiene can help prevent bad breath, tooth decay, and gum disease and can help you keep your teeth as you get older.
In order to maintain a healthy mouth and a sparkling smile, you must build lasting oral hygiene habits most of which start at home.
- Brush your teeth twice a day
- Use your mouthwash daily
- Don’t forget to floss daily
- Focus on proper brushing techniques.
- Quit using tobacco as soon as possible.
- Remember to replace your toothbrush every three month
- Eat a balanced diet
- Say no to sugary treats
- Use the right toothbrush
- Rinse your mouth after every meal
Last but certainly not least, visit your dentist for twice-yearly cleanings and exams to help detect and prevent future problems. Always report dental problems to your dentist as soon as possible to avoid more serious issues and treatments.
