Tea Tree Oil is one of the most common natural products used to treat acne and one of my favorite ingredients in skincare products. But how does it work?
Pure tea tree oil is made by distilling the leaves of the Australian tea tree. It’s a very strong oil that contains over 100 compounds – some that have been proven to be anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial and can help dealing with pimples.
You have to be careful with it. If ingested, it can be toxic and can lead to death. When it comes to skincare, a too high concentration can lead to burning. I’ve been burned before and it’s not pretty.
So how do you safely use it?
- Take a few drops on a cotton swab and dab directly on your blemishes. It will sting a bit but will go away eventually
- Add 4 -5 drops to a lightweight facial moisturizer and apply it to your entire face.
- Add 4 -5 drops to your oil cleanser/oil balm mix to super charge it.
You could use the Beauty Formulas Tea Tree Line!
Beauty Formulas has a line of skincare products made with tea tree oil. This skincare line includes a facial wash, a physical exfoliator, a mask, a blemish gel and makeup remover wipes. My favorite product from this skincare line is the blemish gel. Whenever I notice a pimple coming up, I apply it on the pimple and it goes away overnight!
The tea tree oil line from Beauty Formulas is formulated with the right concentration so it won’t burn your skin or give you other adverse effects. Before using any new product however, always do a patch test.
